Going up north from Bend we stopped in Portland, a city we already knew and loved. It’s relaxed, hip vibe is easy to catch and we found ourselves working from little cafés or watching open air cinema around food trucks (there’s so many of them!).
We were, again, very lucky to meet new friends in the city. Ros is an artist from Spain married to Greg, who is american. They treated us like their own family, letting us use Ros’ artist studio to hang out and take showers (so scarce and necessary sometimes! we are struggling with this).
One of the reasons we were in Portland was because Victor had signed up for the Vancouver USA marathon. Victor is an amateur but competitive mountain runner, and we spend a good amount of time trying to fit in his trainings and competitions with our work and travels. The timing worked perfectly this time.
Despite being a training run (he doesn’t usually run in roads) he managed to finish 5th overall in a time of 2h40. A beer well earned!
We are sea people as much as we are mountain people so we were really excited to hit the coast and try to get some waves and fresh air.
Oregon’s coast is wild, cold, beautiful and desolate. This gives you a lot of room for exploration.

After a couple days we landed in this beautiful, empty beach that extended for kms and kms. We spent the nights watching the stars and the days surfing small but fun waves and cooking good “fideuà”.
After two or three days of beaches we kept driving north and saw this huge “Air Museum” sign painted in a building, really visible from a road around Tillamook. We couldn’t stop us from visiting this weird-looking but interesting place.
